Russian Spring Punch
A refreshing London-created cocktail combining vodka, lemon juice, crème de cassis and sugar syrup, topped with sparkling wine and garnished with berries.

Preparation
- 1Add the vodka, fresh lemon juice, crème de cassis and sugar syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- 2Shake well until thoroughly chilled.
- 3Strain into an ice-filled tall tumbler.
- 4Top with sparkling wine.
- 5Garnish with blackberries and optionally a lemon slice.
Historical Background
Russian Spring Punch was created by British bartender Dick Bradsell in London during the 1980s. Bradsell described it as essentially a spiked Kir Royale served over ice. The name refers to the vodka base and its use in a Collins-style spring drink, rather than indicating a Russian origin. The cocktail is now included in the International Bartenders Association's New Era cocktail list.
