Jallab

A traditional Levantine refreshment made with date molasses, rose water and chilled water, served over ice and topped with toasted pine nuts.

Preparation

  1. 1Add the date molasses, rose water and honey (if using) to a tall glass or pitcher.
  2. 2Pour in the cold water and stir until completely combined.
  3. 3Fill a serving glass with ice.
  4. 4Pour the Jallab over the ice.
  5. 5Garnish generously with toasted pine nuts and serve immediately.

Historical Background

Jallab is one of the Levant's most iconic traditional drinks, especially popular in Lebanon and Syria.
