Historical Background

Canchánchara is a traditional Cuban cocktail strongly associated with Trinidad, Cuba. Its origins are generally placed in the late 19th century, during the Cuban wars of independence, although the exact origin is debated. The original drink is believed to have used aguardiente de caña, honey and citrus. Modern versions commonly use rum instead of aguardiente and are considered a precursor to the Daiquiri.
